The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned power outage affecting several parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, on Saturday, July 18, 2026, due to scheduled maintenance at its Kubwa Transmission Substation.
In a statement issued on Saturday by TCN spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, the company said the maintenance exercise will take place at the Kubwa 132/33kV Transmission Substation from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
According to TCN, the exercise is part of its annual preventive maintenance programme on one of its 100MVA 132/33kV power transformers (TR2) and its associated switchgear to enhance the reliability of electricity supply.
As a result, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to supply electricity to the following areas during the maintenance period:
* Dutse Bupma
* Ushafa
* Jigo
* Peyi
* Pambara
* Kogo
* Veritas University
* Bwari Dutse
* Army Estate
* Berger Camp
* FHA Estate
* FCDA
* Karatana Village
* Aso Garden
* Papas Ground
* Surrounding communities
TCN appealed to residents in the affected locations to bear with the temporary inconvenience, assuring that power supply will be restored immediately after the maintenance work is completed.
The announcement comes shortly after AEDC also notified customers of a separate planned outage affecting the Presidential Villa, National Assembly Annex, Supreme Court, and several other locations in Abuja over the weekend.
