ISWAP Finance Chief Surrenders with Two Children in Borno State
In a major victory against insurgency, a senior financial operative of the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) has surrendered to Nigerian troops in Borno State, accompanied by two male children.
The Nigerian Army confirmed the surrender in a statement on Saturday night, describing it as a significant operational success for troops of 3 Battalion, part of the 24 Task Force Brigade under Operation Hadin Kai.
According to the military, the surrender occurred at approximately 6:45 a.m. on July 25, 2026, along the Ladari–Jegarawa–Tunokalia axis, near the Gamboru–Wulgo Main Supply Route.
Acting Military Information Officer for Northeast Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Mohammed Goni, noted that the development follows a series of recent coordinated land and air offensives against terrorist hideouts. He added that the surrender is part of a growing trend, with about 46 terrorists and their families voluntarily giving themselves up to troops in recent days.
“This breakthrough underscores the sustained effectiveness of ongoing kinetic and intelligence-driven operations across the Northeast,” Goni stated.
