Troops of Sector 6, Operation Enduring Peace, have arrested a suspected member of a kidnap syndicate believed to be responsible for a series of abductions and violent attacks along the Jos–Makurdi highway in Plateau State.
The arrest was disclosed in a post shared on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama on Friday night.
According to the report, the suspect was apprehended at about 5:00 p.m. on July 16 during a targeted operation conducted by troops stationed at the Sector’s Standing Operating Base (SOB) in Bangai Village, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect belongs to an armed criminal gang accused of terrorising commuters and residents along the Jos–Makurdi road corridor through kidnappings and other violent crimes.
Security sources said the suspect is currently in military custody and is cooperating with investigators by providing information that could assist security operatives in identifying, tracking, and arresting other members of the criminal network.
The arrest is part of ongoing efforts by security forces to curb kidnapping and improve safety for motorists and communities along the Jos–Makurdi highway.
